Burdette Ketchum wins two 2010 IABC Silver Quill Awards

Marketing firm’s public relations team secures awards for corporate event and writing initiatives

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Burdette Ketchum, a Jacksonville-based marketing consulting and communications firm, recently earned two 2010 Silver Quill Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Southern Region. Silver Quill is the IABC Southern Region’s annual competition for communications professionals, recognizing excellence in print and electronic publications, websites, video productions, communications campaigns and marketing products.

Burdette Ketchum received an Award of Excellence in the Communication Management: Special Events category for a relocation campaign and open house event conducted on behalf of Perdue, an office workplace solutions provider. The agency also received an Award of Merit in the Communication Skills: Writing category for a successful news release and media relations outreach initiative for Harbinger, a national sign manufacturing company. Both initiatives were developed and implemented by the agency’s public relations team.

“While our clients’ successes are the ultimate measure of excellent communications initiatives, we are very honored to have our work recognized by our peers,” said Donia Crime, public relations director for Burdette Ketchum and pro-bono public relations director for IABC’s First Coast chapter.

With 28 chapters representing 14 U.S. states and four countries, the IABC Southern Region has the broadest geographic representation in IABC, a worldwide learning community for professionals committed to improving the effectiveness of organizations through strategic communication. The Silver Quill competition is open to IABC members and non-members and includes 27 categories and a student division. Winners were judged by communications peers in six different IABC chapters from across the country.
